Just look at him he is a full-grown Mammoth donkey, no longer a baby Mammoth donkey as Rio is six years old now. Rio is a Mammoth donkey 100% donkey no horse and he is 16’1 at the withers not counting his ears.

How long is Rio likely to live, assuming alll goes well with him? We’ve heard that donkeys can live to 70!

Oh you are most welcome I try to share the best information I can find with others. Seems not to be enough information for the donkey as well they don’t usually make much money unlike the horse racing, cutting industry. Thank you for asking. Have a great day!

16’1 was how tall my Arab was. Rio looks so big. Do you know why donkey ears are so large? Horses hear pretty well and I was just wondering if there was more to it.

I have read the donkey is the desert equine and the ears helped them hear the predator and they help cool them down. I am not a vet so can only say what I have read and had passed down to me from other donkey owners. Thank you for asking.

I now remember the cooling down explanation. I knew there was another reason. Thanks for the answer.

The above is the link and my horses love them…you can try a super small package to see if you like it. NW Supplement is a good company etc. and has been around for a long time.
