I meant mammal (red) meat. After having worked with cattle for years, I saw a certain intelligence. I also saw mom to baby nurturing. I could not eat something that thinks, even if it is different from what we call intelligent. I read every one of your post!

So what’s the surprise? Anyone who has looked into the animal slaughter for human consumption industry knows there are all manner of atrocities at work.
I do not understand peoples outrage simply because its a horse .. after all a horse is an animal the same as a cow, a sheep, a pig or a chook and people eat them all the time even though there is enormous evidence that each type are intelligent, love their young and tribe, feel pain and deprivation and even cry. Yet no one’s complaining about eating the cow.
The only difference is that the western world has regarded horses as companions (yet a large number of people have relentlessly exploited them in the horse racing industry where thousands of them are killed in often appalling circumstances each year) … after literally ‘running for their life’.
Dogs in the west are companions but in Asia are considered food. How people regard a particular animal is a culturally constructed reality. So horse or lamb? Dog or cow? If you choose to eat animals then it doesn’t make any sense to be choosy, they all are capable of affection and they all feel pain and bellow with fear and rage when dragged to slaughter.

Yes I agree with you in part of your comment. Horse meat has drugs known to cause cancer in humans and if people are paying for beef they should be getting 100% beef. Have you seen John Lenon’s video glass walls? Shows how horrible factory farming is really makes me think.
