Friends of the Donkey Whisperer Farm,
We have been living on our current five acre farm for thirteen years now, my dream came true in 2007 when we brought Rio (mammoth donkey), Rocket Man(mini donkey) and Miss Lily my quarter horse mare home.
I am indeed a master gardener with GOD’s help, I planted every plant and ornamental tree and I prayed over each one. We cut every tree and chopped every log into firewood by hand to build the two 12 x 16 walk in barns and the large paddock. We hired out some work for the two pole barns and hired help to build the arena but most of this farm was created by my husband Scott and me. We took a dream and made it into reality, GOD is amazing!
In 2001 GOD blessed us with a diamond in the rough our current five acre home, I saw the opportunity to build an equestrian farm and my husband has enjoyed his 2,300 square foot garage below our home a real man cave with a pellet fireplace. Our farm/home is now finished and is truly one the best buys you will find in our area, this farm is a private oasis a turn-key equestrian farm.
All you have to do is move in and bring your kids, dogs, and equine as all the hard work has been completed.
Our Kingston, Washington farm comes with video surveillance, alarm system and the video surveillance is set-up so we can check in our home, farm and equine anywhere in the world anytime. The camera’s are placed in the barns and paddock so I can tack a vacation and have peace of mind. One of the most stressful things about leaving our farm is wondering if the farm animals are being cared for and healthy, this system gives me peace of mind. I was an information technology project manager before retiring early and getting back into equine.
When it is time to take a vacation we hire a person to feed the equine and use our smart phones with an automatic e-mail letting us know when someone has come into the farm. Giving us peace of mind all the equine are safe and cared for. We are the second owner of our 1992 home, each and every room has been updated, leaving the new owner with no projects, a retreat and private farm surrounded by beautiful old growth trees and wildlife. It will be hard to leave all my plants but I have learned to look forward and not look back, GOD is doing a new thing now, my body needs a rambler.
Our current home/farm is located three miles from the Edmonds ferry and fifteen minutes from the Bainbridge Island ferry, a gorgeous two-story home, sitting up high our home over looks the two walk in barns, paddock and outdoor arena. We are only four miles from 5k acres of equestrian trail riding and is a prime location to work in Seattle, Edmonds, Bremerton, Bainbridge Island, Bangor and Keyport. Riding a ferry to work every day is beautiful and relaxing when going into Seattle, I should know as I made this commute from 1989 to 2005. Living in the country is a relaxing and helps the body and mind re-charge. I am excited for whomever gets to live in our home as this is truly a unique home.
May 1st, 2014 our Kingston farm will go on the market and we will move to our new twenty acre farm in Sequim, Washington.
If you know anyone moving to the Pacific Northwest and they are looking for a turn-key equestrian home with six garages let me know at Melody@donkeywhisperer.com. We will be hiring a real-estate agent next spring to handle all the legal logistics of the sale of our current home and farm.
Notice the nice dry cover between the two 12 x 16 stalls (rubber mats, electricity and video cameras inside) – This space is where I do all my grooming, vet care, and farrier work. Covered with electricity and water for easy clean-up.
This view from the deck looks at my hay barn and the arena, horses and donkeys
Our home has a view of the arena, paddock and our donkeys and horse
GOD bless you and your family two and four-legged!
