Donkey Hoof

Howdy,

We live in the Pacific Northwest, Western Washington and believe me we get some rain.  Seems the last few months have been record rain amounts causing the hoof to get and stay wet for long periods of time.  Result for the domesticated donkey, horse or mule can be; the frog disappears, black gunk, smell this means thrush is eating the live tissue of the frog.  The saying “No hoof no horse” is applied to donkeys and mules.

What Can I Do To Help The Hoof?

1.  Make sure you have a place for the equine (donkey, horse, mule) to get out of the damp and get dry

2.  Make sure you have excellent drainage from your barn, landscaping

3.  Pick feet out every day apply non tissue killing thrush buster named NO THRUSH it does work. Please read and be sure anything you are putting on the frog is not killing the live tissue as the product will kill the thrush but can kill the live tissue and the frog cannot grow back.

How often should your donkey or mule get his hooves trimmed? At least every 8 to 10 weeks.

Check out Pete Ramey new Dvd for trimming a donkey, suggest purchasing reviewing yourself and giving to your farrier to review.

GOD bless you and your family two and four-legged!
