Friends of the Donkey Whisperer Farm,
2014 is almost over I find myself reflecting back on all that we accomplished in this most historic year, one of the most exciting and frustrating years of our lives. After the semi-truck accident left me forever disabled with three large screws in my pelvis we had to make a huge change in our life. We understood that age would be a major problem with my disability and that I need to keep walking and moving as much as possible. Naturally we made the decision to leave our home in Kingston, WA and move to Sequim, WA on our twenty acre farm, live in our fifth wheel until the five acre mini farm sold and then build our last home a one story home to accommodate my physical disability. Everything has been completed on our new farm except our home, we have double fencing, a road, electricity, well, a new barn, outdoor arena, round pen and more. Our farm came with twenty acres, irrigation rights, three highways, two pear trees and one apple tree, we have accomplished so much in such a short amount of time. Thank you Jesus!
I started my new business Donkey Whisperer Farm, LLC, Coaching, consulting and training owners how to train and care for their donkeys, horses and mules world-wide. Created a farm plan to grow our own hay and sell one day. Have classes here and more. So much good in this year as I have waited my entire life to have this opportunity to share what a Donkey, Horse and Mules needs from a human as I truly understand their side of the story. Please remember the horse, donkey or mule did not choose you, you chose them and it is your responsibility to find out how to stay in the leadership role at all times each time you step into their world without abuse.
We increased our equine herd size from one Mammoth donkey, one mini donkey and one horse to six donkeys and two horses. We now have Roy (4) a mini donkey, Maximus (2) mini donkey along with two rescues Oboe and Tuba and a new horse Miss Trophy. Yes, my horse miss Lily finally has a horse and now I know what it is like to have a herd bound horse. Things are calming down now since it has been almost six months and the mares are starting to be able to be apart and not freak out as bad. Yeh!
I am training two new mini donkeys, one new saddlebred mare (horse), and two rescue standard donkeys. I will also be adding a gentle bit to Rio as he is not responding to the Dr. Cooks bit as well as I had hoped, perhaps one day he will respond better as safety is number one for me and my students. It has always been my dream to learn how to teach myself and my equine to pull a cart and I still plan on having National Expert Nate Bowers come to the farm just wont be in 2015 as I need a home before classes can start on our farm. After our home is built we will start having on-site classes here for me and my students and bringing in National experts in hoof care, saddle fitting, cart pulling and more. One day we will grow ten acres of 100% orchard hay as we have irrigation all of this is in GOD’s timing not ours.
Living In Our 5th Wheel Full Time
What my hubby and I have learned?
You do not need all the stuff society in the U.S.A. tells you to own. We live in a 29.50 foot Montana fifth wheel with three dogs and two cats and we are happy. Most of our time in the spring and summer is spent outside on the farm as the equine and farm is a full-time job. It is a peaceful wonderful life, one that we are both excited to have the opportunity to run and share with the world. I continue to teach virtually to my students world-wide how to train their horses, donkeys and mules. I look forward to having one on one and group classes with my students and I look forward to one day swinging my leg up over my new horse Miss Trophy age six and never been ridden. I look forward to learning how to pull a cart and plan on teaching Rio, Rocket Man, Roy, Maximus, Oboe and Tuba to pull. a cart, one step forward and two steps back. We are now waiting on GOD to bring the right buyer to purchase our mini farm in Kingston, WA so we can build our home. In the midst of waiting I find peace and joy as all around me is beauty. GOD has taken my ashes of pain and suffering and given me beauty. If you are suffering from any kind of trauma remember GOD loves you and he is waiting for you to call his name in Jesus Christ name.
