Do You Know What Plants Are Poisonous For Your Horse, Donkey or Mule?

OLD POST – 2012

Owning a small farm is a dream come true as I had been praying to GOD to own a horse again since I was a teenager, GOD answered my prayers in my late forties.  I am here to say “Nothing is impossible with GOD in Jesus Christ precious name” living on a  farm is indeed a gift from GOD and I am forever grateful for GOD’s favor and blessings. It is my pleasure to share information and a few photos with you. Enjoy!

Watching our beloved equine do one of their most favorite things, graze and munch away on good clean low sugar hay is a wonderful thing, it is truly a blessing.   For me listening to them chomp away on safe low sugar hay has a similar relaxation feeling as listening to the ocean as it calms my soul.   The farm girl is forever deep instilled in my soul, thank you Jesus.

If You Look Around Your Personal Life

You Can Be A Warrior For Jesus Christ, A Human Angel For A Human Or Animal Or On A Great Day Both!

You can be a human angel to help another human or animal in need. You can be a human angel and I promise you will feel better about your self than buying yourself more stuff.

The day before Thanksgiving a man who was installing a new door in our kitchen came. He was an angel to me as I have been trying to get the doors finished since August of 2013. I wanted to enjoy our home of 13 years finished before placing it on the market in the spring.

He was working for me and I was preparing the food for our family, cooking home-made stuffing with sweet sausage, green apples, butter and onions. Oh so good and easy. Then I made home-made cranberries sauce, sugar, vanilla bean, o.j. and real ginger.

“The man was working on the new door right next to the stove, he kept saying wow that smells good.”  I said Thank you I do this for my family so much better than the stove top stuffing. I asked him what he was doing for Thanksgiving with his family?  He said his mother in law lives with him as she is dying of a rare bone cancer. His wife is in Seattle all day with her to get chemo. He said he has two teenage children and he has no idea what they will eat.

A tear started to slide out my eye. You see in 2010 I was hit by a semi-truck and I am disabled but I work hard to not let anyone notice it I have three large screws in my pelvis and my life has never been the same.

When he finished the door I had finished these two dishes and another dish. He gave me the paper work to sign stating I was happy with his work from home depot. I handed him a large paper bag full of food to take home to his family for Thanksgiving, he shook my hand and was shaking. He said thank you and GOD bless you and I said the same. He left and I felt so good. Giving is always such a great thing it is the way we were created to give and receive and be helpful to the people in need right under our noses.

GOD bless you and your family two and four-legged!

Looking For A Cool (NOT SO HOT) Fly Mask?

Photo is from Walk With Donkeys In Crete  check out this site.  Amazing work being done here!

Here on the Donkey Whisperer Farm we do not have a fly problem as we use fly predators and we compost two times a day, ensuring to keep the compost a ways away from the pasture and paddock.  Compost turns into black gold for the garden.

I suggest trying the fringe fly mask as this one does not go over the ears and is Not too hot 🙂

Photo of full fly mask over the ears

I would never put this on my equine too hot and claustrophobic

Stop Donkey Roping – Please Sign The Petition

Jason Owen of Dos Gringos Productions: DONKEY ROPING MUST BE STOPPED

  1. Why do cowboys rope donkeys?

Donkeys are much slower than a cow when scared.  So this is easy practice as the donkey unlike the cow will stand still and freeze or move slow making it easy and fun to dominate the poor donkey.  Donkeys can run and do sometimes but usually when under serious stress they stand and the cowboy enjoys practicing roping on the donkeys.  Additionally, when the cowboy can not catch the donkey they rope them and drag them behind an A.T.V. or their horse as donkeys when scared as stated above freeze this is abuse and must stop.  Please re-blog!

2. Donkey roping is torture

Not only does it inflict serious damage to donkeys physically, but also causes mental trauma. Physical damage includes rope burns to the legs and neck, crushed tracheae, broken legs and death. Donkeys often become difficult to handle and extremely fearful of people after being roped.  “Donkeys suffer from PTSD after this event and sometimes can never ever trust a human again. ” Melody Johnson, Donkey Whisperer Farm.”

I personally do not like to watch anything being roped, not a cow, a goat and most defiantly not a sweet donkey.  How about you what do you think about donkey roping?

Straight from the Horse's Heart

Inept U.S. Government Decision Baffles Experts

Let the Cruelty CommenceThe United States Department of Agriculture is likely to approve a horse slaughtering plant in New Mexico in the next two months, which would allow equine meat suitable for human consumption to be produced in the United States for the first time since 2007.

The plant, in Roswell, N.M., is owned by Valley Meat Company, which sued the U.S.D.A. and its Food Safety and Inspection Service last fall over the lack of inspection services for horses going to slaughter. Horse meat cannot be processed for human consumption in the United States without inspection by the U.S.D.A., so horses destined for that purpose have been shipped to places like Mexico and Canada for slaughter.

Justin DeJong, a spokesman for the agriculture department, said that “several” companies had asked the agency to re-establish inspection of horses for slaughter…

When Life Is Too Hard – Hold On To GOD’s Promise

We must never forget that most of life is about praying, waiting, dreaming, having faith and then one day GOD answers our prayers and we move to the next level.

Blogging has become a way for GOD to wipe my tears, recharge my mind, plant a dream and finally write down what I see in faith.  Big difference between faith and pushing to get something my way without including GOD in my plans.  I have learned the hard way that GOD wants to be part of every single inch and detail of my life.  GOD does not want me to pray only when I am desperate and nowhere else to go, give GOD a try nothing else to do.  GOD wants me to pray each morning after I open my eyes, during the day, before I get in the car, before I go to sleep.  GOD wants to be the most important part of my life and GOD does not like to be second or the last plan he wants to be driving our life.

GOD wants us to share how GOD helped us, How he did what no other human could ever do

GOD loves all his children and GOD is a GOD of Justice and Mercy.  GOD can make the mountains crumble, GOD can restore what has been betrayed, broken, destroyed and make new again.  GOD can not make us love GOD as he gave us free will, if we choose not to believe in GOD how can we expect GOD to release the angels from heaven to go to work for us.

When life is just too hard, everything has went wrong our mind, bodies and soul seems to be physically defeated this is when we must dig in, Hold on to GOD’s Promise and never give up  as GOD is in control of his children.   We are not in control over much other than the ability to pray and have faith Jesus will hold our right hand and make a miracle, crooked roads straight.  We must never forget GOD’s children are to lend not borrow we have been given favor to help others.

When we are weak and shattered this is the time GOD can use us to help others, it’s really hard to use us humans if we think we never need GOD.  This is the time when GOD can show up and show off to share with the world he is the great I AM.  GOD can show the world what GOD accomplished not what we accomplished.  No human can do what GOD can do.

Prayers For Hard Times

The Lord causes my enemies who rise up against me to be defeated before my face; they shall come out against me one way and flee before me seven ways.  DEUTERONOMY 28:7

And my people shall never be put to shame.  Joel 2-26

I am just a person I shall live by faith.  HABAKKUK 2:4 (NKJV)

He Spoke to them, saying, Take Courage!  I AM Stop being afraid!  Matthew 14:27

It is GOD’s desire that I be free from all anxiety and distressing care.  1 Corinthians 7:32

Consider the lilies, how they grow.  They neither (wearily) toil nor spin nor weave; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory (his splendor and magnificence) was not arrayed like one of these.  Luke 12:27

If We Get Quiet and Pray GOD Will Tell Us What Is Next In Life

My 50th birthday was going to be in Maui, Hawaii or at a minimum some place dry and warm as I am a planner, I  had been thinking about this big milestone birthday since I turned forty.  Sadly just weeks before my 50th birthday I found myself fighting for my life in Harborview hospital, Seattle, WA intensive care.   My 50th birthday sucked and was horrific I will never ever forget my 50th birthday.

Just weeks before the trauma hit with the semi truck I was planning a huge surprise 50th birthday party for my husband.   I had a fun party space with old cars, motorcycles, Elvis stuff, music, catering planned out and I was going to have a brand new Harley Davidson motorcycle sitting in the party spot with his name on it.  I had called many of our life time friends and family and it was to be a huge deal.  Just a few weeks before the accident GOD placed a heavy weight on my heart to not do the party cancel it, I have learned to listen to the nudges of Jesus so I cancelled the party.  Received all my money back and took my husband to pick out his Harley many months before his big 50th b-day, it was indeed the right thing to do as GOD knew what was coming and I did not.  I took my husband to get his Harley just weeks before the semi truck accident and three months before his birthday, chilling how GOD works. GOD is amazing.

Interesting thing; when I think back to this event I would pray and GOD placed a heavy burden of pain and suffering over my body, “I felt like my husband was weeping, crying and in great sadness.”  I thought something horrific was going to happen within his family as his parents are aging, this sixth sense I was feeling was all about me.   I did not know it was me that would be the cause of my husbands tears, loss and stress but this I can share I knew something horrific was going to happen and I knew he would need a great escape.  A Harley was something he had wanted since he was a young boy just like I had wanted a horse since I was a young girl.  Since my husband made my dreams come true I wanted to make his dreams come true.

What if I was too busy to not pray and get quiet every day? GOD could have never ever given me the sixth sense I needed to take care of my husband.  Remember to always take time for GOD, make time for GOD as he knows everything that is best for his children.  GOD is amazing.

Me & my husband on his 52nd Birthday 2012

GOD bless you and your family two and four-legged!

The Donkey Is Humble

A donkey is truly humble he/she is Not concerned with who he should be. He isn’t concerned with himself at all, but instead he’s concerned with his pasture buddies and the most special human in his life who does not abuse him.

I think we humans can learn from the Donkey making our most fragile world a much better place.

GOD bless you and your family two and four-legged!
