Happy New Year 2017! Ready To Train Your Donkey?

Happy New Year!

happy-new-year-2017-gif-images

I love the beginning of the new year as this is a time to reflect on our past dreams and goals. Thank GOD for all of our blessings. Plan for the new year projects and goals as some dreams were planned years ahead and now they are ready to be born. Living on a farm teaches life has seasons.

Spring, summer, fall and winter:

All of these seasons are very important for the farm crops to grow. Just like the farm has seasons so do people.wp-1458048428556.jpg

Time management is important as our world is spinning faster and faster each and every day.

The difference in completing goals and not is making a plan, asking experts for help. Education is a life long process, the mind needs to continue learning to stay strong. I enjoy teaching just as much as I enjoy learning.  No one can do everything without help, sometimes it is hard to ask for help. We all need one another to make the world a better place. I enjoy training the owner to train the donkey. Why? Donkeys are smart not stubborn. The donkey is always looking for a leader who is fair. Never for a bully or abuser.

We pray, wait and work hard for everything we do. Patience is very important while waiting depending on the issue and our personality this can be easy or difficult. This I know for sure. If I do not pray, prepare and plan nothing will change. I want to try to make a difference in this great big world.

Training Donkeys Takes Having A Plan:

Donkeys are smart not stubborn!

Donkeys look over a human in a matter of seconds and before you know it the donkey has trained the human to do exactly what the donkey wants.

Or

The donkey will not engage at all!

riomelodyoboetubariding2016

The donkey places humans in one of three categories in a matter of seconds:

Treat dispenser

Fair leader

or

Abuser

Did I tell you Donkeys are Smart!

Did You Know Your Donkey Has A Personality?

The personality of your donkey can be the same as your personality or not. Makes no difference as training the donkey successfully depends on you the owner learning how to have a plan and control your emotions. Match the energy and personality that shows up on your farm. Never drill your donkey, stay ON DONKEY TIME kinda like beach time.

So You Want To Be A Farmer

December 21st, 2016 is the shortest day of the year.

img_8146img_7999img_7987img_8101The Donkey Whisperer Farm is a blessing. We will thank GOD for this farm forever as our farm is GOD’s blessing.

GOD bless the farmer and his/her way of life!

Farmers work hard! No vacation time, no sick days, no time off.

Now for the good part!

  1. Every seed we plant will grow food. Food for animals to consume and eventually humans too.
  2. The land will reward us when we take the time to give back.
  3. Never expect anything less than what you put back into your soil as composting is gold for farmers.
  4. The farmer has a big office
  5. Farmers prepare for spring in the winter
  6. The farmer must be a planner and very careful with their budget
  7. Farmers get dirty every single day
  8. Farmers breathe fresh air every single day, rain, snow, wind or hot
  9. Farmers love to share as getting be a farmer is a blessing
  10. Farmers work hard and they are planners.
  11. GOD is in control. It is what it is when the bad year comes and when the good year comes. Farmers pray to God each and every day.

What to Consider?

  • Vision and Values: A farm is both an extension of the vision and values of the individual(s) who start(s) it, and it has to be carefully planned to make sure that it fits within that vision as well as within the particular confines of the place where it is established.
  • Place Matters: Direct market farms typically aren’t well suited for the rural heartland, and rice farming is not going to be successful on the arid plains of Eastern Washington. These are extreme examples, but there are important subtleties to every market and every plot of land.
  • Planning: New farms need to have a well designed business plan that takes into consideration individual infrastructure and financial needsthe viability of marketing strategies, and the farmer’s production capacity and knowledge.
  • Education and Experience: Preparation, knowledge, and training are essential. But so is being able adapt quickly to the unexpected, to persevere when factors beyond one’s control conspire against you, and knowing how/when/what/where to expend time, energy, and resources.
  • Managing risk: It is helpful to plan careful to manage risk through diversification, financial management, and the ability to withstand a couple of bad years.
  • Start small: For most beginning farmers, we advise starting small to allow time for details to be worked out, for additional learning to occur, and to mitigate the size and scope of problems that will inevitably arise.
  • Wait for the funding to come before you grow your farm!

Kidney Failure In Cats

One of our two rescue kitties (black Purcilla) manx mix died two weeks ago of kidney failure she was only eight years old. We adopted two feral kitties from PAWS in 2008.

Our Anatolian puppy sat down next to her barked once to alert me something was wrong. She went into shock and then the vet had to put her to sleep. This all happened so fast. Rest in peace sweet Purcilla you had the best life we could give you.

This kitty could not go to the vet ever. She was a feral rescue and refused to be touched or held.

Lessons learned from rescuing feral kitties?

  1. These cats will not adapt to humans in a way to enjoy being held and loved.
  2. They will show you they appreciate your home and love.
  3. Feral kitties will learn house rules and are smart.
  4. Not all feral kitties should live outside. Our kitties lived indoors 100% of the time and were happy.

Feral:

  • A feral cat is a cat who has either never had any contact with humans or her contact with humans has diminished over time. She is fearful of people and survives on her own outdoors. A feral cat is not likely to ever become a lap cat or enjoy living indoors.
  • Kittens born to feral cats can be socialized at an early age and adopted into homes. Maybe!

Select Cat Kidney Failure

Rest in Peace Sweet Purcilla! Purcilla died three weeks ago it has taken me this long to talk about it on my blog. She was a feral rescue meaning she never really liked people. She loved us we know for sure, she loved our dogs too. Our kitties were indoor only kitties.

Here is her sister Jasmine. She is doing good but misses her sister. She sleeps with our dogs. Did you know cats can have different dads?

I have learned cats act like donkeys. Cat’s are stoic just like the donkey and will not show sickness or pain until it is too late. Purcilla was playing the night before with her toys. Rest in peace sweet Purcilla.
