Fall Is Time To Reflect

The Donkey Whisperer Farm ® has had a year of milestones! Truly blessing after blessing as we prayed, planned and worked really hard on each project. Our little farm business has been selling donkey, mule, pony, and even Zonk halter/lead lines hand made with soft yacht rope worldwide. We now sell riding reins too. The big news! The Donkey Whisperer Farm fiberglass stick and string to touch your donkey not hit your donkey. I designed each stick and string to be a perfect training tool. The tip is leather not rubber. Rubber pulls the hair on the donkey defeating the goal of teaching the donkey to trust the human. Each stick and string is hand made in the U.S.A. When you purchase from the Donkey Whisperer Farm you can expect quality 100% of the time in combination with outstanding customer service. We provide only the best for you and your donkey.

A large percentage of donkeys that end up at shelters, auctions and slaughter houses have been abandoned because they were difficult to handle or could not be trained. Our vision is that EVERY donkey find its forever home. Our prayer is that your donkey stays with you forever.

We are selling these training tools with Donkey 102 worldwide. Donkey 101 E-VIDEO Series and now Donkey 102 E- VIDEO Series is selling worldwide. People who own donkeys can learn how to train the donkey and take me Melody Johnson to the farm via any smart device. This is a GOD accomplishment. I train the owner or caretaker to train the donkey worldwide using resistance free methods. Never abuse. Select Donkey Whisperer Farm to take a look at what we are doing for the donkeys living in our world and the people who own them and care for them.

NEW FREE VIDEO “BRINGING YOUR DONKEY HOME”

https://youtu.be/077l2ySsgQQ

2018 we watched our privacy trees grow before our eyes. We are excited to have privacy and very soon. Moving into a farm field with no privacy has been a challenge. The beautiful trees love the sunshine and our irrigation water from the Dungeness river. God is amazing.

So many farm projects and the animals well they give us the strength and motivation to keep working and pressing forward. Farm life is hard work. Rewarding and emotionally challenging. Winter may seem like a time to rest for most people, working with equine is a full-time job, 12 months a year and twenty-four hours a day. We love the farm life, not for everyone but for us this is a gift as life is fragile and precious. We know we will never get this day back again. The animals need full-time care, hooves need even more attention as the wet weather brings challenges.

The donkeys, horses, dogs and kitty are all doing great. 2018 has been a wonderful year full of milestones. We are now putting up our hay ourselves. Working hard to prepare the hay field for 2019. We will plant 100% orchard hay for our equine to eat. Watching the hay leave our farm we grow and work so hard to get baled has been really hard. Donkeys cannot eat alfalfa hay without getting obese and sick.

2019 GOD willing we will have 100% orchard hay to put in our barn. Low sugar/protein hay has become really expensive in the Pacific Northwest. We are excited to start production of this healthy hay beginning with our donkeys and horses.

Take a virtual tour around the Donkey Whisperer Farm. Enjoy!

Our Anatolian Shepherds “LIVESTOCK GUARDING DOGS” are busy taking care of the farm.

This bird flew into my instagram photo. 🙂

For Just A Moment

Living in the Pacific Northwest summer is a treat. This year has been a year of less sunshine and more gray days, difficult for sure but all part of home. My garden is here for just a moment of time it seems. Soon it will be fall and the season will change again. For now I thank GOD for this moment in time. Look at my beautiful garden. Thank you Jesus!

GOD Plants A Dream

God planted a dream in my mind in 2010 after surviving a semi truck accident I live each day in pain and I am physically disabled. I am not dead. I still have purpose and value in this great big world. Never give up. Select GOD Created A Miracle For Me.

Present day my husband Scott and I are living this dream. Dreams do come true. We lived in our 5th wheel while we built the farm and our home in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, Washington.  I train the owner or caretaker worldwide how to train and care for the donkey using resistance free methods, endorphins and timing I call this the three second rule. Most importantly I teach my students how to have a plan and stay ON DONKEY TIME ®. Stop before the donkey stops. Learn how to be a fair leader with a plan and never drill or hurt the donkey.

Every day I look out our window into GOD’s world, GOD’s window of life. I am so grateful for this land that GOD brought to us and I jump for joy each and every day to share with you to never give up on a dream GOD plants. This is real it really happened and it can happen to you if you trust Jesus. I see mountains, donkeys, horses and more.   Dreams do come true but they take hard work and faith that GOD has a plan and his plan may or may not be fast. GOD knows what is best for his children as he created each one of us, he planted the dream in us, our choice is to have faith and step out or stay safe and never try. I choose to die with my boots on. How about you?

3. Stop the donkey from biting, nipping and swinging the head into me.

4. Stop the donkey from dragging the human.

New Video “Bringing The Donkey Home” https://youtu.be/077l2ySsgQQ Learn how to set your farm, shelter, fence up for success. Donkeys are intelligent, we must have a detailed plan to stay a fair leader. Stay On Donkey Time ® meaning never get upset, end on a good note, never betray a donkey, abuse a donkey.

Take Melody Johnson to the farm via any smart device. Print out our book attached to each training video. Stay On Donkey Time ® as donkeys cannot be forced to do anything. We cannot bribe a donkey and we cannot punish a donkey to follow us. The donkey must form a relationship with the human and most of all the donkey must trust us at all times. Never abuse a donkey, never let the donkey see you watching the donkey get hurt or abused. Donkeys will think, and think until they find away around the unfair human.

Donkey 102  video on demand trains the owner or caretaker how to to train the donkey. Our fiberglass stick and string is a training tool used to touch the donkey never hurt the donkey. A tap to keep on when walking, a wiggle to stop the bolt, desensitizing to prepare for the farrier and more. This stick is a must have for your shelter and farm. Seriously an extension of your arm. 🙂

ON DONKEY TIME ® is our business logo! Stay calm, have a plan and be a fair leader.

Sadly donkeys who have no social skills are at high risk for re-sale and meat buyers. Please take the time to learn how to train your donkey. Peace and harmony are guaranteed to come back to the farm. It’s all about the human. Preparation is the key to training a donkey. Donkeys learn at the release of pressure not from pain. The donkey has trained the human. Some donkeys are rescue donkeys meaning they have met the worst kind of human. Donkeys have photographic memories. Donkeys never forget good or bad. Fixing a donkeys that has been abused will take Donkey 101 and Donkey 102 and time. No donkey is a throw away donkey.

Stay ON DONKEY TIME ® never drill or stress your donkey out. Tomorrow will be a better day.

All domesticated donkeys, mules and horses need their hooves trimmed on a regular basis. Six weeks in the spring and summer. Seven weeks in the fall and winter. Toe pushed back, heel low but not too low and please do not dig out the sole. Depending on the part of the world you live in trimming is done different. I live in a green state, Washington, all eight equine are trimmed every six weeks in the spring and summer and seven in the fall and winter. Why? The hoof grows faster in the warmer seasons.  If we do not pay attention to the diet of our the desert equine the donkey our donkey will get sick and can die. The diet for the desert equine the donkey is a dry paddock full-time, grazing time on lush grass is limited for exercise but never to eat 24 x 7. Hay must be tested to be 10% or lower in sugar/protein. Donkeys who are fed alfalfa hay, green grass, trees, brush all day and night will get sick. Here are a few things just a few that will happen; White line, seedy toe and lots of pain and suffering abscesses, insulin resistance and more.

Donkeys evolved in the desert. Never forget this. Feeding the desert equine takes having a plan and ensuring the donkey is getting exercise. Never starve a donkey. Clean water is a must. Salt is a must. A vet check once a year is imperative to your donkeys health. Teeth checked at least once a year. Fecal Samples for parasites. Never guess as over worming your donkey will create resistant free parasites worms. The donkey will get really sick and it is very expensive and difficult to cure.

Donkeys digest drugs different from a horse. Never give any drug to your donkey without an experienced donkey vet. Why? Donkeys die from drugs and there is no do over for the donkey. Make sure before you sedate your donkey your vet has the reversal drug and is trained in donkeys drug digestion.

Jacks, a jack is an intact donkey. Most donkeys are not breeding material. These donkeys must be gelded in order to have a forever home. Re-homing a jack is difficult. Jacks are not for the beginner donkey owner.

Jennies a female donkey. This donkey has estrus and will have mood swings. Simply understand this.

Geldings are Usually the easiest to train and care for. If the gelding is recently gelded understand testerone will take up to 6 or 8 months to leave the donkeys body. Next comes behavior modification this is all about you the owner learning how to be a fair leader and train the donkey.

Help My Donkey Is Running At Me His/Her Ears Back Teeth Showing

Donkeys have photographic memories. Donkeys evolved from the desert. Donkeys are seriously into self-preservation. Perhaps you are new to donkeys and at first your donkey was quiet and nice and then all of a sudden the donkey started getting pushy. Donkeys can canter like a horse, trot, and walk like a horse. But never think a donkey is a horse as they are not a horse a donkey is a donkey.

Donkeys ears can go back, forward, the flying nun or one forward one back. This does not mean the donkey is angry every time. We must learn to read the eyes, body language. Our donkeys come running to say hello with their ears back as they are thinking. When playing or fighting ears are back. Learn to study your donkeys eyes. Learn signs of relaxation and stress and more.

Never give a treat when the equine is pushing you to give it. Give the treat when they are relaxed and have earned the treat, calm and respectfully. My horse must turn her head away from me to get a treat this helps her think before trying to bully the treat out of my hand. Lot’s of ways you can get your timing ready to teach the equine to receive the treat use your creativity to plan ahead and teach them to accept the treat. All of my equine come to me when called without a food treat. They get the physical, mental and emotional treat of me loving on them, brushing them, talking to them, picking their hooves and taking them for a walk.

Donkeys cannot kick or bite you if your timing is great, they are looking to see if you are a leader or a follower. Each time you are with your equine you are the human leader, you have the human mind put your cell phone away, job away, kids away and just be in the moment with your equine. I say “You must be plugged into your equine to stay safe and be a great leader.”

Equine are gifts from GOD be grateful for them as each day is indeed precious and fragile.
