Transfer lonely Anne from Longleat to Elephant Haven, to be with companions.

140,000 GOAL
Anne the elephant was rescued to Longleat for rehabilitation on 3rd April 2011 from a life of suffering at Bobby Roberts circus. This was meant to be a temporary respite for Anne to gain physical health to enable her to be transferred to another location where she could be with other elephants.
Elephants are complex social animals and in the wild spend most of their day interacting in social activities. But Anne is alone, and has been since her last friends, Beverly and Janie, died at the circus in the Winter of 2001. She has spent 16 years now in total isolation from her own kind. This will affect her mental well being. Longleat has cared well for Anne but now she needs to be with other elephants.
Elephant Haven in France has agreed to accept Anne if she is to be released from Longleat, into their new elephant Haven, alongside two other elephants. She could be safely introduced to new elephant friends there.
Please sign now to demand Longleat transfer Anne to Elephant Haven in France to be with companions.

Elephant Advocacy Needs You

“I do not think I called the elephants to me. I think they are coming to us, calling us. I think they are consciously transmitting cries of anguish and grief, and some of us are hearing them and are responding. When we come forth in that way we are re-united with them in a single wave of consciousness.”

Did You Know Our Worlds Elephants Need You?

“Every time we say, ‘Don’t tell me. I don’t want to know’, we limit the potential for growth, for change, for making possible everything we want to be and everything we want this world to be”.

Please Help This Baby Elephant – Sign the petition

Only three months ago this young milk-dependent calf was safe beside his mother and extended family living free in his wild homeland of Zimbabwe. November 2012 brought terror as rangers from the state-run Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority in Hwange abducted 18 young calves from their families in a covert deal between Zimbabwe’s President Mugabe and China.

Donkeys and Elephants

Select  Donkeys Vs Elephants

Copied from http://www.peta.org/issues/Animals-In-Entertainment/elephants-broken-spirits.aspx

Elephants are so intensely emotional and protective that it is well documented that they experience great sadness over losing their young, and it must horrify them to watch their babies tormented in servitude.

Most elephants used by circuses and zoos were captured in the wild and forced to leave their freedom and families behind. Some people mistakenly believe that captive breeding will help prevent elephants from becoming extinct, but elephants who are born in the breeding centers of circuses and zoos (also known as captive-born elephants) can never be returned to the wild.

Animals used in circuses live a dismal life in which they are dominated, confined, and violently trained. Workers routinely beat, shock, and whip them until they learn to perform meaningless tricks that are confusing to them.  If you love elephants, never go to a circus that uses animal acts.

Elephant Advocacy – we love elephants and we can’t imagine a world without them

Re-blogged from Elephant Advocacy

Please Join the Campaign!

“At the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust we love elephants and we can’t imagine a world without them.”
But if we don’t all come together to stand up for elephants and add our voice to those fighting against the ivory trade, the African elephant species could be lost forever.  As long as there is a market for ivory elephants will be cruelly killed for their teeth. We want everyone who loves elephants to Say No to Ivory and stand up for elephants.  The DSWT “iWorry” campaign aims to raise awareness of the urgent need to stop all trade in ivory internationally, in order to protect  the future of elephants”.
The DSWT iWorry campaign was launched Friday, September 28, 2012 six months ahead of the next meeting of CITES (Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) which will take place in Bangkok in March 2013. Please add your voice by signing the world-wide petition and writing to your country’s representative(s) to CITES to vote against any movement to allow the legal sale of ivory stockpiles at any time!
Please go to www.iworry.org for all information.  Read, stay updated, sign the petition, write to your country’s CITES representative(s) and help save Africa’s elephants!
